#GIFF2015: Paul Soriano's "Kid Kulafu" and Antoinette Jadaone's "That Thing Called Tadhana"

Another international film selection committee has chosen two movies from the Philippines that will represent the country in the upcoming Guam International Film Festival (GIFF 2015) in both competition and in showcasing the film. The GIFF 2015 is happening on September 26-30, 2015 at the Agana Center Stadium Theaters in Guam. The selected films are Antoinette Jadaone's biggest hit "That Thing Called Tadhana" starring Angelica Panganiban and JM de Guzman and Paul Soriano's "Kid Kulafu" starring Buboy Villar in his first-ever lead role as the young boxing legend, Manny Pacquiao.

The actors of the two movies were also selected for the acting competition where Buboy Villar and Angelica Panganiban are nominated in the Achievement in Acting Category. Meanwhile, the movie "That Thing Called Tadhana" is selected for the Grand Jury Nominee for Best Narrative Feature.

"Kid Kulafu"

The movie "Kid Kulafu" tells the story of the young Manny Pacquaio before the fame, before the legend, and even before the boxing legend and one of the world's greatest boxers, Emmanuel "Manny" Pacquiao was a young boy living a hand-to-mouth existence, trying to survive from one day to the next.

When he discovers his natural talent for boxing, he embarks on a brutal and intense journey that takes him from the mountains of the Philippines to the streets of Manila, and must risk everything to become a champion - for himself, his family, and his country.

"That Thing Called Tadhana"

The movie "That Thing Called Tadhana" is one of the well-responded and well-loved independent films in the Philippines in recent times due to its favorable "hugot lines", story that almost everyone can relate to, and impressive acting from the two main characters in the story. The whole movie showed only two actors from beginning to end and yet audiences did not find this boring to watch. This reminds us of the movie "Before Sunrise" with the way it tells the story, but overall the movie is truly engaging to watch.

While struggling to meet the strict airline baggage requirements, a woman meets a man who heroically comes to her aid. Both are in despair out of love, which urges them to form a charming friendship which would take them out of the crowded airport and into the secluded city of Sagada, where they would attempt to mend each other’s hearts and find the answer to the question, “Where do broken hearts go?”
