Dolly Parton's Final Song

Dolly Parton recorded what she intended to be her final song, “My Place in History,” years ago. But it won’t be heard until 2046, on what would have been her 100th birthday.

The song is sealed inside a time capsule at Dollywood, along with Parton’s memories and wishes for the future.

Imagination Library: Founded in 1995 through the Dollywood Foundation, this program has gifted hundreds of millions of free books to children worldwide to promote childhood literacy. 

COVID-19 Vaccine Research: She donated $1 million to the Vanderbilt University Medical Center in 2020, which helped fund early research that led to the development of the Moderna vaccine.

Disaster Relief: She established the My People Fund to give monthly financial support to families who lost their homes in the 2016 Tennessee wildfires, and later donated millions toward flood and hurricane relief, including for Hurricane Helene. 

Final Generosity: Following her passing at age 80 in August 2026, her sister Stella shared that Dolly offered to undergo experimental cancer treatments right up until the end of her life in the hope that it would help medical teams find cures and save future patients.
