All-Filipino a capella group The Filharmonic competes against the Bellas for world domination!

MANILA – A behind-the-scene clip from the upcoming movie “Pitch Perfect 2” showing the all-male Filipino group Filharmonic was released by Universal Pictures online.

In the one-minute video, actress, director and producer Elizabeth Banks said they got the Filharmonic because they wanted “to represent multiple countries” in the main competition in the musical film.

“The very first thing we did when we knew we wanted to represent multiple countries at the Worlds Competition was go to a cappella groups that sing in different languages,” she said.

“We just took inspirations from real life and actually put as many real groups into the finale as we could,” she added.

Vocal producer Derek Sharon, for his part, was all praises for the Filharmonic, which rose to fame when they joined NBC’s talent show “The Sing-Off” in December 2013.

“The Filharmonic was so much fun. They are actually all Filipino heritage so they are singing in Tagalog, the language of the Philippines,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Filharmonic, which is composed of VJ Rosales, Joe Caigoy, Trace Gaynor, Barry Fortgang, Jules Cruz and Niko Del Rey, said they consider their “Pitch Perfect” stint a “wild ride” and an “epic” experience.

The group also said their scene in the movie “felt like a real concert.”
