Scarlett Johansson in "Under the Skin"
Under the Skin is a 2013 British-American science fiction art film directed by Jonathan Glazer. Produced by James Wilson and Nick Wechsler, it was written by Glazer and Walter Campbell as a loose adaptation of Michel Faber's 2000 novel of the same name. The film stars Scarlett Johansson as an alien seductress who preys on men in Scotland. Under the Skin was released in the UK on March 14 2014 and the US on 4 April, and received generally positive reviews. It will be shown in the Philippines this month of July, 2014.
Plot:
An alien takes the body of an attractive young woman and travels Scotland in a van picking up men. As she lures her victims into a trap with the promise of sex, the men are immersed in liquid and their flesh is harvested. She is monitored by another alien, who has the body of a male motorcyclist.
When she attempts to seduce a man on a beach, she witnesses the accidental drowning of a man and woman. She watches dispassionately, then kills the first man after he tries to save them and takes his body with her.
When she seduces a lonely and sexually inexperienced man who has facial neurofibromatosis disfigurement, she takes pity on him and allows him to escape. The man is tracked and killed by the motorcyclist, who sets out in pursuit of the alien woman across Scotland.
Troubled by the encounter with the man with neurofibromatosis, the alien begins to feel more conscious of her human body. She attempts unsuccessfully to eat human food. She is helped by a man who takes her to his home, cooks for her, and gives her a room. They attempt to have sex.
Confused, the alien flees into a deep forest and shelters in a bothy. She is woken by a commercial logger who tries to rape her and in the process tears her skin, revealing her alien body. After she extricates herself from her human skin, the logger douses her in diesel and burns her alive. The smoke from her burnt body coils into the sky.
