Who will win the Best Foreign Language Film Oscars trophy in the 83nd Academy Awards?

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has released a shortlist of nominees for the Best Foreign Language Film category which consisted of nine outstanding films from the sixty-five qualified films submitted last year.

The movie Noy, Philippine's bet for the Best Foreign Language Film, did not make it to the list.

Oscars 2011 Best Foreign Language Film Shortlist Nominees

Nine movies will advance to the next round of voting in the Foreign Language Film category for the 83nd Academy Awards. The films, listed in alphabetical order by country, are:

• Hors la Loi (Algeria)
• Incendies (Canada)
• In a Better World (Denmark)
• Dogtooth (Greece)
• Confessions (Japan)
• Biutiful (Mexico)
• Life Above All (South Africa)
• Tambien la Lluvia (Spain)
• Simple Simon (Sweden)

Foreign Language Film nominations for 2010 are again being determined in two phases. The Phase I committee, consisting of several hundred Los Angeles-based members, screened the 65 eligible films. The group’s top six choices, augmented by three additional selections voted by the Academy’s Foreign Language Film Award Executive Committee, constitute the shortlist. The shortlist will be winnowed down to the five nominees by specially invited committees in New York and Los Angeles. They will spend three days viewing three films each day and then casting their ballots.

The 83nd Academy Awards nominations will be announced on Tuesday, January 25, 2011, at 5:30 a.m. PT in the Academy’s Samuel Goldwyn Theater. Academy Awards for outstanding film achievements of 2010 will be presented on Sunday, February 27, 2011.

Nominations for the 83rd Academy Awards were announced Tuesday, January 25, 2011 by Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences President Tom Sherak and 2009 Oscar winner Mo'Nique.

• In a Better World, Denmark
• Incendies, Canada
• Outside the law, Algeria

The Oscars 2011 Best Foreign Language Film Winners will be announced February 27, 2011 together with the other major awards.
