Movie Review: The Chronicles of Narnia: Voyage of the Dawn Treader!

I know this is a much-delayed movie review of the currently showing film, The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader that I have watched in 3D, last December 1, 2010 during its premiere night at the Gateway Cinema 5, but still, I will post this much-anticipated movie review for future reference of the Narnian Saga lookers out there. I did not write this movie review sooner because I felt like I have nothing to compare it because I haven't watched the first two Narnian movies yet before I have watched The Chronicles of Narnia: Voyage of the Dawn Treader. But now that I have watched the first two movie installments, I feel more confident now with this movie review.

About The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader

The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader is the third movie installment to the Narnian Series based from the books written by C.S. Lewis, a world-renowned epic fantasy series novelist. The movie is produced by Walden Media and for the first time, distributed by 20th Century FOX. The first two movie installments was distributed by Walt Disney Productions, Inc., which includes The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe and The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian.

Set a year after the events of the second film, The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian (where the two other older Pevensies, Peter and Susan are remembered to had a hint of their not being included in the third installment of the film), the two younger Pevensies siblings, Edmund (Skandar Keynes) and Lucy (Georgie Henley) are transported back to Narnia along with their cousin Eustace Scrubb (Will Poulter) in a magical painting portal. They join the new King of Narnia, Caspian (Ben Barnes) in his quest to rescue the seven lost lords to save Narnia from a corrupting evil that resides on a dark island. Each character is tested as they journey to the home of the great lion Aslan at the far ends of the world.

Edmund, Lucy, Eustace, the talking mouse, Reepicheep, and (now) King Caspian must face an adventure voyage with a famous Narnian ship, the Dawn Treader, in order to save Narnia once more from the evil that's lurking behind "the mist" and discover their courage, fight fear, and found friendship to one another.

The Chronicles of Narnia: Voyage of the Dawn Treader takes you to voyage adventure where over the sea, minus the sea sickness that you could get. In this third installment of the Narnian Series, the loyal servants of the then Prince Caspian, who is now declared as King, set on a sail to voyage the Narnian Sea and look for an adventure they will never forget. In this movie, the Narnian crews of the Dawn Treader including that of King Caspian, Edmund, Eustace, and Lucy, fight the wrath of the sea, solve a mysterious disapperance of the seven lords who took on a voyage to solve the mystery behind the "mist", find and value the true meaning of friendship, and perhaps battle fear with courage and determination to fight all evil without dedicating the battle to Narnia or even to Aslan (if you have watched the first two films, you'll know what I mean, hehehe).

I can say that this film separates itself to the two previous movie installments by having a different feeling of adventure that is not-so Narnian-like, maybe because of much of the film's scenes are shot on water rather than on land. There maybe no elements in The Chronicles of Narnia: Voyage of the Dawn Treader movie that would make a glorious winning moment and make yourself yell, "For Narnia.. For Aslan...!" such as that in the first two films, however there is still this magical Narnian feeling about the voyage itself. If you are seeking for a sea adventure without the sea sickness, then The Chronicles of Narnia: Voyage of the Dawn Treader is a movie to watch for... I recommend watching it in 3D for a much-fun watching experience.

Indeed, the incredible voyage of the Dawn Treader on the Narnian Sea is really an adventure that kids and adults alike will surely loved. If you are looking for an adventure with much-anticipated action with a touch of moral values, and enhanced with superb special effect, The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader is a must-watch film this season.
