Showing in Philippine cinemas this September 2010

I only have four movies on my must-see list this September. And contrary to my previous article on watching 3D movies, three out of the four movies can be seen in 3D.

I guess 3D is becoming the standard for great movies. Imagine, there are three 3D movies this month.

I am really hoping for a technology which will enable us to watch 3D movies without the glasses. There are new television sets already being made which can stream 3D images without the glasses. I hope that happens to movie screens too.

Anyway, here are my top picks of the month!

Despicable Me 3D (September 1)

"Superbad. Superdad."

This animated movie is about Gru (voiced by Steve Carell) who is planning the biggest heist in the history of the world. He is going to steal the moon. He also badly wants to beat his archnemesis Vector (Jason Segel). To complete his plan, he adopted three kids he can use to infiltrate Vector's home.

However, the three kids will make him discover something underneath his evil plans - a big heart.

Resident Evil: Afterlife 3D (September 10)

"She's back...And she's bringing a few of her friends."

Afterlife follows Alice (Mila Jovovich) who continues her journey to find survivors and lead them to safety. Her deadly battle with the Umbrella Corporation reaches new heights, but Alice gets some unexpected help from an old friend. A new lead that promises a safe haven takes them to Los Angeles, but when they arrive the city is overrun by thousands of Undead.

Alice and her comrades are about to step into a deadly trap.

Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole 3D (September 24)

"On his way to finding a legend...he will become one."

This animated film follows Soren, a young barn owl, who is kidnapped by owls of St. Aggie's, ostensibly an orphanage, where owlets are brainwashed into becoming soldiers. He and his new friends escape to the island of Ga'Hoole, to assist its noble, wise owls who fight the army being created by the wicked rulers of St. Aggie's.

This movie is based on the first three books in the series Guardians of Ga'Hoole by Kathryn Lasky.

Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps (September 29)

Transformers lead actor Shia LaBeouf stars in this sequel to the 1987 popular movie entitle Wall Street. Shia LaBeouf plays the role of a young stock trader who partners with disgraced former Wall Street corporate raider Gordon Gekko (Michael Douglas) to alert the financial community to the coming doom, and to find out who was responsible for the death of the young trader's mentor.

This movie also features business magnate Donald Trump in a cameo role.
