Freddy Krueger is back and he's still doing what he is made to do in the first eight films of this slasher film franchise. Freddy is back in yet another chilling and hair-raising suspense in A Nightmare on Elm Street.

Isn't it amazing that after twenty-six years, Freddy Krueger is still here, alive in young teenagers' dreams. His red-and-green sweater and his iconic bladed gloves makes us wish he will never haunt us in our sleep.

And now, Freddy is back to once again scare the soul out of teenagers in the 2010 re-imagining of A Nightmare on Elm Street.

A Nightmare on Elm Street 2010 Plot Summary/Synopsis

Like most of the films in the slasher film franchise, A Nightmare on Elm Street 2010 will follow a group of teenagers who are haunted by Freddy Krueger, a disfigured killer who hunts them in their dreams, resulting to their death in the real world. His motives were to seek revenge on their parents, who had burned him alive.

What's different in the 2010 re-imagining of A Nightmare on Elm Street?

Compared to US box office grosses of other American horror film series, A Nightmare on Elm Street is the third highest grossing franchise, next to Friday the 13th and Hannibal Lecter. As of today, there are eight film in the franchise, most of which are top-grosser in their time.

According to the new Nightmare director Samuel Bayer, he wants to re-introduce the character to a new generation of movie goers.

"I think I'd be happy if people welcome this and at the same time see we're going off on a slightly different path, but if you follow the DNA of it, it goes all the way back to the first movie," said Samuel Bayer.

Bayer explained that the script goes deeper into who "[Freddy] as a person [and] how he became the thing he was". Bayer expressed that, unlike the Friday the 13th remake that picked the best parts from the first four films, the Nightmare remake is coming straight from the first film.

A Nightmare on Elm Street 2010 Cast

For the first time in the Nightmare franchise history, Robert Englund will not be playing the role of Freddy Krueger. Jackie Earle Haley, who recently played the masked vigilante Rorschach in Watchmen, took the role. Rooney Mara takes over the role of Nancy Holbrook.
