January 8 Showing in Philippine Cinemas
Five new movies and two returning films are now showing in Philippine cinemas as they open another week of film showing after the Metro Manila Film Festival showing of movies. Below are the said movies included in this week's screening.
The movie Sherlock Holmes is the 2009 film adaptation of Arthur Conan Doyle's fictional detective character, Sherlock Holmes as portrayed by Hollywood actor Robert Downey, Jr. with Jude Law playing the role of his assistant, Dr. John Watson. In the movie, Sherlock Holmes and Dr. John Watson race to prevent a human sacrifice ritual conducted by their enemy Lord Blackwood, played by Mark Strong. Set in London, 1891, this detective movie will surely make make your adventure-thrist blood go pounding. Sherlock Holmes also stars Rachel McAdams and directed by Guy Ritchie.

Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel movie follows the next-level adventures of the chipmunk brothers Alvin, Simon and Theodore as they go on experience the life going to school when their mentor Dave was suddenly met a freak accident as caused by none other than Alvin. But this was not the real trouble. When the girls chipmunks, known as The Chipettes, came to The Chipmunks' school, problems slowly came one by one. Oh, I have to cut them short for you to watch the movie! Hehehe... and oh, by the way, the Philippines very own, Charice, had a cameo role towards the end of the movie. Other movies that will open this week includes an action-comedy-horror flick, Zombieland (Woody Harrelson, Jesse Eisenberg, Emma Stone, Abigail Breslin, Amber Heard, Bill Murray), a 3D adventure movie, Astroboy and the romantic-comedy flick, The Rebound starring Catherine Zeta-Jones and Justin Bartha.
The movie Avatar, directed by James Cameron is making a comeback to Philippine cinema shores and is available on IMAX Theaters. The movie Amelia starring Hillary Swank also makes a comeback in selected SM Cinemas.
