Watch Metro Manila Film Festival 2009 movies on different days

Update: Lucky for us, all of the MMFF 2009 entries will be opening on December 25. However, for those cinemas with less than seven theaters, it will be on their discretion on which movies to show first. Check your local cinemas for the MMFF 2009 screening schedules.

The 35th Metro Manila Film Festival will open in an unorthodox manner come December 25. It will only be showing five of the seven official entries on Christmas Day.

On the first day of showing, it will be a battle between a Filipino-Chinese epic, a standard horror thriller, two adventure fantasies, and a comedy turned tear-jerker. While the superhero movie and the complicated drama will have their own playdates.

Moviegoers will have a choice among Mano Po 6: A Mother’s Love starring Ms. Sharon Cuneta, the Shake, Rattle and Roll XI horror anthology, Nobody, Nobody but Juan starring Dolphy, Ang Panday (2009) starring Bong Revilla and Ang Darling Kong Aswang starring Vic Sotto on December 25.

Wapakman will hit the theatres on December 27 due to delayed submission because of Krista Ranillo’s unavailability to shoot. Will the Pacquiao-Krista controversy bring up the sales, or would it bury the movie to oblivion?

On the other hand, Star Cinema’s I Love You Goodbye is originally scheduled to open on January 1, 2010.

How will the new screening schedules affect the ticket sales?

Surely, moviegoers will have more time to watch more than one movie, which will be advantageous to the MMFF in terms of ticket sales.

And with I Love You Goodbye the opening solo on the first day of the year, I think it will be a clear box office hit right on the first day.

What do you think?
