But just how important is a villain in a Walt Disney animated movie?

Like any other stories out there, a story is nothing unless an antagonist (the villain) makes the life of a protagonist (the hero) miserable in any ways possible. The villain somehow makes the story complete. Without the villain in every story, there will be no plot, no conflict, and perhaps no twist in the story. If that's the case, then we have no story at all. What we have are just sentences or paragraphs combined together to make a single thought. But that's just it.

So, in order for us to create a good story, a villain is always a requirement. This is why Walt Disney animated movies are very successful because they have put up a very good villain in their story that will make the life of our hero/heroes miserable.
