Imus Production and GMA Films' filmfest entry, Ang Panday (2009) emerged as the most coveted and most favorite this MMFF 2009 as they bagged seven awards in the recently concluded Metro Manila Film Festival Awards night including the Best Picture Category, Best Actor and Best Supporting Actor. Mano Po 6: A Mother's Story bagged the Best Director Award for Joel Lamangan while the Best Original Story of the Festival goes to Star Cinema's I Love You Goodbye. The MMFF 2009 winners were announced December 28, at the SMX of Mall of Asia in Pasay City.
