The MMFF 2009 Awards Night Winners (Fearless Forecast)!

Who won in the 2009 Metro Manila Film Festival Awards Night?

It is only a few more hours to go before the Metro Manila Film Festival 2009 Awards Night that will be held tonight, December 28, but here in our website, MovieNews.Me we will give you a fearless forecast on who will going to win on tonight's event.

What is a Metro Manila Film Festival Award?

The Metro Manila Film Festival Awards Night is held during the MMFF 2009 film showings to give movie producer award/s for a particular category that will serve as the fruit of their hardwork in making their filmfest entry to the MMFF 2009. In here, the council of the MMFF 2009 committee will choose who among the festival entries deserves an award for a particular category. Major awards will include Best Actor of the Festival, Best Actress of the Festival, Best Supporting Actor, Best Supporting Actress and Best Picture of the Festival with three rankings (1st, 2nd and 3rd). Other awards such as Best Story, Best Screenplay, Best Director and other minor awards come in next.

MMFF Ruling: Best Picture Controversy

The MMFF 2009 Best Picture Award is not the same as the other award-giving body for the same category. The Best Picture of the Festival Award is determined through a 40-60 percentage where 40 percent of the votes will be given by the festival juries and the remaining 60 percent is taken from the box-office ticket sales of the festival entries. This is how they determine the Best Picture winners in the previous years. If this MMFF rule is carried over this 2009 is still unknown as of this press time.

Usually, the movie among the festival entries that showed a remarkable ticket sale during a few days time of showing bags the 1st Place Best Picture of the Festival. But looking back at recent MMFF history, where in 2007, Star Cinema's entry, Sakal, Sakali, Saklolo starring Judy Ann Santos and Ryan Agoncillo only won 2nd Best Picture (because it was only second in box-office during that time) next to Enteng Kabisote 4 starring Vic Sotto and Kristine Hermosa which bagged the 1st Best Picture award.

After the awards night, the box-office records was reciprocated, turning Sakal, Sakali, Saklolo the number 1 in ranking, outnumbering Enteng Kabisote 4 in terms of ticket sales. But the award for the 1st Best Picture Award in MMFF 2007 has already been given to Enteng Kabisote 4 and cannot be taken back. So, the people only decided that Sakal, Sakali, Saklolo was the Best Picture during that festival year. This could only mean that the awards night can determine the fate of the movies in the Best Picture category. Ticket sales can be reciprocated a few days later after the awards night. Lets see where the awards night could lead us.
