In the tradition of the continuing story of the lives of Filipino-Chinese, Regal Entertainment, Inc., with its matriarch producer Mother Lily Monteverde, has never stopped its quality film-making of the epic drama that was once a "Mano Po". Now, on its 6th installment, the Mano Po franchise from Regal Films has always been a tradition of success.
Mano Po 6: A Mother's Love stars none other than the megastar herself Ms. Sharon Cuneta, in this sixth-of-its-kind big budgeted movie. Reported to have a whopping 70 million pesos budget, Mano Po 6 promises another masterpiece of showcasing the lives of Filipino-Chinese under the direction of the great director, Joel Lamangan.
Mano Po 6: A Mother's Love is Regal Entertainment, Inc.'s official entry to the 35th Metro Manila Film Festival. It stars Ms. Sharon Cuneta in the title role as Melinda Uy, the protagonist in the story. Support casts will include Christopher de Leon, ZsaZsa Padilla and Kris Aquino in a very special role as Melinda's bestfriend.
Mano Po 6 is a combination of veteran stars and young stars from the two giant networks in the Philippines. We can expect a lot of Chinese traits and traditions to be showcased all throughout the film.
Melinda Uy (Sharon Cuneta) is a half-Filipino, half-Chinese struggling mother to four children married to a full-Chinese blood man. Her family was believed to bring curse to Olive's (ZsaZsa Padilla) family. Because of this, Melinda's was not accepted by the Uy family as one of their members. Melinda's struggling as a mother began when she has nothing else to do but to strive more and work more to win the Uy family's approval. This caused her to leave one of her children, Stephanie, to Olive's care. Olive is Melinda's ambitious and evil sister-in-law.
But of course, all winnings has its major prize. Despite the success that Melinda has gotten into years later, she will try to win the heart of her prodigal daughter Stephanie (Heart Evangelista) who believed she was abandoned by her mother. Along the way, Melinda will meet lots of people who will make her character even stronger and more powerful than ever. Did Melinda has a change of heart?
