The next story to the "Jack Reacher" movie is based on a novel "Never Go Back" and also about taming the Jack Reacher himself. This time, he became cheesy due to the appearance of his could be daughter in the film. And because of this, the action scenes has become less of a quality and was replaced with a melodrama thingie.
As we watch the film, we already thought that the peg or the inspiration perhaps in making this film was the "Taken" movie series franchise starring Liam Neeson, who we has done his best to protect his daughter and family by all means, except for that third installment which was really the down fall of "Taken" movie series franchise. Anyway, moving on, by theory, this is what we saw in the "Jack Reacher: Never Go Back" movie.
Due to the films lack of high explosive action-pack scenes, we thought that the movie has lessen quite a bit in terms of quality and story that was Jack Reacher. Perhaps it would be better if the screenwriter or the director has remained the original megaplot of the film. Similarly, this is also what happened to the recently shown "Jason Bourne" movie starring Matt Damon.
Overall, we enjoyed watching the "Jack Reacher: Never Go Back" movie sequel but of course we know there is something lacking about the film. It's like eating a delicious bowl of sinigang without the rice, there is something missing indeed. We give this movie a 7 out of 10 movie experience for Cobie Smulders' ass-kicking performance, running, and gracing the big screen by her appearance --- away from her "How I Met Your Mother" days and of course, for Tom Cruise as well even though he feels so old watching him on the big screen.
"Jack Reacher: Never Go Back" is still showing in Philippine cinemas brought to us by Paramount Pictures and distributed by United International Pictures. Watch "Jack Reacher: Never Go Back" full movie trailer below.
