Margot Robbie, Chris Pine, and Chiwetel Ejiofor in a Post-Apocalyptic Love Triangle in ‘Z for Zachariah
In a world devastated by a catastrophic
nuclear event, a single idyllic valley remains spared from the radioactive
fallout. Here, a solitary figure, Ann Burden (Margot Robbie), thrives on the farm she once shared with her
family, bolstered by her wits, hard work and indomitable faith. Living on her
own for some time, her fears that she may be the event’s only survivor prove
unfounded when she encounters John Loomis (Chiwetel
Ejiofor), a pragmatic scientist, turned refugee, searching for a safe
haven. Forming a delicate if powerful bond, their budding relationship – and
with it, the tenuous promise of a better life – begins to unravel when a
stranger, the former mine worker, Caleb (Chris
Pine), enters their world.
Featuring three of the film industry’s
brightest talents, Z for Zachariah,
stars Australian actress Margot Robbie (Focus)
as Ann Burden, a woman whose faith in divine providence is put to the test by
the two men who enter her life.
Completing the ensemble are Academy Award® and Golden Globe nominee
Chiwetel Ejiofor (12 Years a Slave)
as John Loomis, and Chris Pine (Star Trek;
Star Trek Into Darkness) as the mysterious Caleb.
Inspired by the posthumously published 1974
novel, “Z for Zachariah”, by award-winning author, Robert C. O’Brien, the film
is written by Nissar Modi (Breaking at
the Edge) and directed by Craig Zobel (Compliance).
“Z for Zachariah” is released and distributed by CAPTIVE CINEMA.
