Genetically Engineered Superhuman and Deadliest Assassin in “HITMAN: AGENT 47”
The highly stylized action-packed film “Hitman: Agent
47” starring Rupert Friend, Zachary Quinto and Hannah Ware re-envisioning of
the franchise and re-introduces the barcode tattoed hero known only as 47 who
is out to take down a large underground crime organization determined to crack
their superhuman abilities for world domination.
An
iconic and unique character, Agent 47 (Friend) is genetically engineered for
one purpose: non-stop pursuit on his
mission until the target is dead. He is
the culmination of decades of research – and forty-six earlier Agent clones --
endowing him with unprecedented strength, speed, stamina and intelligence. An anti-hero who is a precise, untouchable and
elegant killer, Agent 47 dons a very stylish black suit, red tie and is loaded
with the most lethal weapons ever created.
Based
on the phenomenal game franchise but a totally standalone film, Friend
previously stressed in previous interviews that the movie is a story told in
its own unique world. “We haven’t messed
around with the origin of it. We drop in, at an early point in his career, and
it goes from there, but we certainly have not reinvented who he is. That’s
stayed the same. The character has stayed true, but we also haven’t made a film
of the game, put on the screen. It’s a film from that world that hopefully
expands it and enriches it, so if you’ve enjoyed that world, it’s another thing
to enjoy.”
Additionally,
the actors especially Friend who takes on the titular character, have all went
through extensive training for the fight scenes to be believable killing
machines. “The action is pretty much all
me, actually. I have the scars to prove it.”
Directed
by first time helmer Aleksander Bach, the film stars Rupert Friend (“Homeland,”
The Young Victoria), Zachary Quinto (Star Trek, Margin Call), Hannah Ware
(“Betrayal,” “Boss”), Thomas Kretschmann (“Dracula,” Avengers: Age of Ultron),
Dan Bakkedahl (The Heat, Observe and Report) and Ciaran Hinds (Frozen, The
Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby).
“Hitman:
Agent 47” opens August 19 in cinemas nationwide from 20th Century
Fox.
