Movie Review: "Blended" a sweet and funny romantic comedy.
What do you get if you have Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore in a movie set in Sun City Resort, South Africa? A fun-filled chaotic romance comedy that would keep you laughing and giggle the whole film.
Blended is a 2014 American romantic comedy film directed by Frank Coraci and written by Ivan Menchell and Clare Sera. Starring Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore with an ensemble cast featuring Bella Thorne, Emma Fuhrmann, Terry Crews, Joel McHale, Wendi McLendon-Covey, Kevin Nealon, and Shaquille O'Neal.
Blended marked the third romantic comedy collaboration between Sandler and Barrymore, following The Wedding Singer and 50 First Dates. Coraci also previously directed Sandler and Barrymore in The Wedding Singer. It also marked Sandler's first role in a Warner Bros. film.
The movie starts with a blind date Jim (Adam Sandler) and Lauren (Drew Barrymore) at Hooters. It was a complete disaster and they ended hating each other. Jim is a single-father of three young ladies while Lauren is a divorced mother of two young lads. An unlikely event led to both their families spending vacation in the same location. The misadventures of both their families with another couple Eddy (Kevin Nealon) and Ginger (Jessica Lowe) with Eddy's son, Jake (Zak Henri).
I love how the movie focused on the idea of "blending" unconventional situations in a mixture of interesting families. There have been misunderstanding throughout the entire plot and in the end it led to a sweeter sense of love story. A part of the film gave light on how growing-up young ladies still needs a personal mother's touch in some of the crucial points in their life. The film shows how a father's attention and care is also necessary for growing up boys. Truly, "Blended" is a film for the whole family.
The picturesque scenes from the perfectly presented Sun City Resort and the safari adventure in Africa is tantalizing. It is as if after watching "Blended" you wanted to go to South Africa and enjoy try the things they did in the movie.
Expect the unexpected from this film as the whole cast did a wonderful job in providing a great film for everyone. This film has again proven the memorable screen chemistry of Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore in a more mature setting.
