"It Takes A Man and A Woman" Movie Review
After four weeks in movie theaters and nearly 400-million pesos earnings as of this writing, finally, I am able to write the much awaited movie review of the much-talked about and most anticipated final installment to the love story that we all followed from the start -- the Laida Magtalas and Miggy Montenegro love tandem. "It Takes A Man and A Woman" is the third and final installment to the most successful love story franchise ever made in Philippine movie history.
Following the success of its predecessors, "A Very Special Love" and "You Changed My Life", "It Takes A Man and A Woman" brings us a more mature theme than the first two movie installments. If you are a follower of the characters Laida Magtalas (played by Sarah Geronimo) and Miggy Montenegro (played by John Lloyd Cruz), you can say that by the end of the film, both of the characters matured not just as a person, but also in their personality, points of view in life, work, love and relationship.
At some point in the movie, we somehow missed the old Laida Magtalas -- the bubbly and loving person we all loved at the first two movies. Yes! I also missed the "powerhug!" and "sundance" moments. But the exclusion of it is really understandable because Laida was hurt and betrayed which led to Laida Magtalas version 2.0 -- a fiercer, bolder, and more mature Laida with a slang accent!
On the other hand, Miggy's personal turmoil in his relationship with family and new girlfriend was very sufficient in molding what has become the Laida and Miggy that we saw in this third installment.
The addition of Zoila and friends which stars Matet de Leon, Gio Alvarez, and Joross Gamboa in the movie to give comic reliefs to the seriously funny love-hate relationship of Laida and Miggy is really a success. A highly commended acting for Joross Gamboa is hereby cited in this review! Joross Gamboa's acting skills has improved through the years, he delivered his character's punchlines and one liners, effortlessly. Who would have not forget that "It Takes A Man and A Woman" movie quote moment of Joross Gamboa, "Laro tayo ng taguan... taguan ng feelings!" Simply unforgettable! Best line ever for a romantic-comedy Filipino film! Hahaha!
One thing I noticed in "It Takes A Man and A Woman" was that, there are a lot of things that happened in the individual lives of Laida and Miggy and within their family members. This "things" led to the events that Laida changed for the better (or did she) and Miggy being trapped and caught in between love and relationship. In the end, these "things" that happened to them made them realized that it really takes a man and a woman to settle everything straight. All the painful memories of the past and the love that was lost along the way, finally find its way to the reconciliation of the heart that only a man and a woman would know.
If you haven't seen "It Takes A Man and A Woman" it's time for you to see it. I will tell you is all your money's worth! Hahaha! Below is the full movie trailer of "It Takes A Man and A Woman" starring Sarah Geronimo and John Lloyd Cruz. The official movie soundtrack of "It Takes A Man and A Woman" is available here. Enjoy!
