(UPDATED) Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) 2011 Official Entries
Familiar names top the Metro Manila Film Festival 2011 Official Entries that they can already be called MMFF regulars. Not that we don’t like them, but as long as they are raking in money and winning awards, the likes of Ai-Ai delas Alas, Vic Sotto, and Bong Revilla will keep on coming back.
Eight MMFF 2011 finalists made the cut in the grandest movie festival in the Philippines which will happen on the last week of December through first week of January.
Star Cinema have learned that combining two big movies like Enteng Kabisote and Agimat earns the most money, which happened last MMFF 2010. This time, they are trying the combination of Ina Montecillo and Enteng Kabisote.
What’s next? Will they try “Agimat ng Tanging Ina Mo” next year? What about “Ang Tanging Ina Nyo, Enteng at Agimat”?
Enteng ng Ina Mo is directed by Tony Y. Reyes. Below is the full movie trailer.
Hototay is a family comedy starring John Lapus, Ruffa Gutierrez, Andi Eigenmann, Lovi Poe and Melai Cantiveros. According to Mother Lily Monteverde, Hototay expands from Mano Po film series by adding more nationalities like Indian.
Hototay is directed by Joel Lamangan.
In an interview, title role actor Robin Padilla said the movie is a concept of his wife Mariel Rodriguez. And that he will be a superhero in this movie. The title gives a hint that Robin will be a Filipino-Chinese martial arts master. The movie is also set to star Angelica Panganiban.
Mr. Wong is directed by Trina Dayrit and Retchie del Carmen.
With Jose Javier Reyes on the helm, this Juday-Ryan movie will no doubt follow the footsteps of their previous movies Kasal, Kasali, Kasalo and Sakal, Sakali, Saklolo. Short sequences, fast-paced storytelling, witty dialogues.
However, we can’t be sure My House Husband will be a blockbuster like the previous movies because there are bigger competitions in the arena.
In the 2009 MMFF, Panday was proclaimed Best Picture and Bong Revilla was awarded Best Actor. In this second installment of the Pinoy blacksmith hero, GMA Films and Imus Production strives to do it again. Philip Salvador reprises the role of Lizardo, while Marian Rivera and Iza Calzado join the cast.
Plus, this is said to be the first live action Filipino film to be released in 3D.
Panday 2 is directed by Mac Alejandre.
Kris Aquino is back with another hair-raising do-you-believe-in-superstitions kind of horror. This time, she is paired for the first time with Dingdong Dantes. From the movie title, we can infer that Kris Aquino will be dealing with a ghost who can’t let go.
