Titanic 3D: James Cameron to sink Titanic again, this time in 3D

Director James Cameron is seriously looking at re-releasing a 3D version of the 1997 blockbuster hit Titanic.

Cameron helmed Titanic in 1997, which became the best-selling international movie and won the best picture at the Oscarsthat year. Recently, he directed Avatar, which toppled Titanic as the top-grossing international movie of all time. However, Titanic fall behind the Hurt Locker in the Oscars 2010 Best Picture race.

According to Cameron, he will be using the same technology he used in Avatar to bring back Titanic to life again. However, Titanic 3D won't be released until 2012, the 100 year anniversary of the sailing of the ship. They are targeting the release on the spring of 2012.

Titanic is about the romantic story of a rich girl Rose and a poor boy Jack who met at an ill-fated voyage of a supposedly "unsinkable" ship. It starred the tandem of Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet.
